  "Local Needs" Talks: The people who should really hear them are never there.

  my whole life as a jw i've heard this refrain.

  "too bad so-and-so wasn't here for that local needs talk.".

  as an elder i would have a hard time putting my heart into writing up a local needs talk that was targeting one or two congregation members, knowing full well they probably wouldn't be there to hear it.. .

  They had talks on how someone can become "unrepentant" after showing repentance? Not sure what scriptures they could use to back that up? I was reproved but then married the worldly man I got reproved over.

  then they had a few on how it was the elders that help weak ones and how they shouldn't try to reach out to any inactive ones.

  and then after I DA they had many on apostates and not to even "look" at one. I heard the first few. I used to listen in and they didn't know it. I heard from a friend about the last few. It's a small hall so they have to talk about something. There were two more that DF after me so i did get out of the spot light.

  JWs who do a "disappearing act" because of damaging gossip and trouble in the hall

  i know of a few jw friends who from time to time have to do a disappearing act from their hall.

  one jw finds a "reason" to leave town to visit relatives and another jw would go to "visit" another hall in a nearby vicinity.

  in all honesty, they are fleeing from the strife in the kingdom hall when they are in the spotlight.

  ug! I was gossiped about a lot and hate to say it as a pioneer that's what we did. talk about everyone else. good bad whatever. Now I hate gossip if i hear things at work I try to stop it. I don't judge they way I did as a JW. as a teen JW it was pure bullying i think

  I have a great current life and JW get NO credit. I blame some of my insecurities on cult thinking that I will continue to work on. I also have times of complete panic over not knowing what the future holds for mankind and me after death... and loosing my brother to the cult and some "friends" I just want to shake them

  Sometimes You Just Gotta Score One For the Cult Members

  i really don't care much for jw's at my door, or at anyone's door.

  this chauvinistic, fanatical bully-a-hole, however, is one of the worst examples of a christian i have ever seen.

  the jw's handled themselves very well in the face of this ridiculous bullying and taunting by this so-called christian attempting to school the jw's about god and the bible.

  first a quick setup.... like most on here i'm sure we're all aware of the struggle to rid ourselves of our jw programming.

  top of my mind lately is realizing i'm not living my life.

  It's a sign if you want it to be. Why not. He gained freedom and now has the ability to move and yes fall but he is FREE. So are you! live life to the full!

  I had a moment that I choose to believe was some type of intervention. I moved away a few years ago and decided to take 2 week off from the KH before I would find it and would start to go back. When the two weeks were up I could not find it. Every meeting I got ready to go and would get directions but just could not find it. I stopped trying. A few months later I saw it. It was on the road I used every day. As clear as it could be! Never went back!

  What's the most dumbest/petty thing you've heard of someone being "stumbled" over?

  - some loser once took offense that i hugged a sister goodbye at a leaving do and ran back to the elders like a little child telling on me.

  i was 15, this sister was in her 40s at the time.. - this elder said someone told him they saw me with a copy of the sun newspaper.

  yes, this paper is known for its 'page 3' topless girls but far from pornagraphic and i wasn't even thinking along those lines.. - one brother who had a good job was 'counselled' because he was actually able to buy himself nice things including a new car (shock, horror!!

  When I got braces as an adult the CO wife said it may stumble others because I wasn't waiting for the NS to fix my teeth

  wairing shorts to clean before an assembly

  a skirt an inch above my knees

  sitting on my to be husbands lap in public - nothing was going on...

  Songs that remind you of your Mum . . .

  i remember my mum standing at the kitchen sink preparing little cypriot meat patties in a beat up enamel dish.

  there was a window overlooking the small garden where me and my brother and sisters used to play (wonderful, wonderful times before the cult got its tentacles into our family).. my mum used to sing lots of tunes but this lynn anderson song is the one i remember .

  actually choking up a little .
